About the Department
The restructuring exercise of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in line with the Vision, Mission and Values of Mzuzu University resulted in the establishment of Management and Entrepreneurial Studies in 2017. The Department became the third within the Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality and Management and Entrepreneurial Studies.
The Vision of the Department of Management and Entrepreneurial Studies is to position Mzuzu University through the Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality and Management and Entrepreneurial Studies as a competitive institution of choice in Tourism, Hospitality, and Management studies, research, and consultancy in Malawi, SADC region and beyond. The goal of the Department is to contribute to the development of management, accounting, and entrepreneurship across the departments and also in particular, the sports industry in Malawi and the region by providing highly trained, versatile, innovative and competent graduates and offering insights and expertise through research, consultancy, and outreach.
The Department intends to foster the critical areas for improvement and evolution as enshrined in the path of growth by the five pillars of the MZUNI SP to unlock the full potential towards a more credible, competitive, and responsive Department in the 21st Century. The strategic pillars are (1) Optimum students’ experience, (2) Business and Investment, (3) Research and Innovation, (4) Internationalization and Cooperation, and (5) Governance and Management
